The MATH-eson of Tax Reform
Tax reform is coming in hot and heavy in Utah. We're joined by Alliance for a Better Utah's Katie Matheson to talk about what's in the proposal in front of the public and how to lobby your legislators for change. Plus, we chat about intergenerational poverty in Weber county and, as always, some Pinkies Up, Thumbs Down with Upcoming Events.

Weber County Leads the State in Intergenerational Poverty
A report released last month by the Utah Intergenerational Welfare Reform Commission found that Weber county leads the state in percentage of population mired in intergeneration poverty.
We learned about the issue from an article in the Standard-Examiner by Tim Vandenack, noting that the problem is particularly acute in Ogden City.
One thing to bear in mind, Weber county only leads in percentage of population in considered to be in intergenerational poverty (5,044 citizens or 1.94% of population), not the overall number of people suffering. Salt Lake county, Utah's most populous county, leads with 14,754 or 1.28% of the population.
Read the report and find out how you can help neighbors in your community who may be struggling.
Utah Tax Reform w/ Alliance for a Better Utah's Katie Matheson
Talk of tax reform in Utah has been brewing since the legislative session ended back in March. But now, the public has a draft in front of them to begin actually weighing the pro's and con's of the changes lawmakers are proposing after months of hearings and input.
We welcomed Alliance for a Better Utah's Katie Matheson to talk about what's in the current proposal and what it means for the upcoming special session we expect in December.
Reach out to your state representative and senator to ask questions and express your desires for tax reform in Utah.
